As a Bloodhound breeder, we know our dogs. We like to stay in touch with our previous customers. Many of them continue to send photographs of their puppy as he grows. We offer all Bloodhound breed information to you below, showing you, we are an up-front Bloodhound breeder.
A Few Main All Breed Dog Registries
This breed is registered with major kennel clubs such as American Kennel Club (AKC), Canadian Kennel Club (CKC), Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI) and The Kennel Club of Great Britain (KC).
Bloodhounds are Natural Trackers
Bloodhounds are the oldest known breed of Hound, all hounds are bred up from the
Bloodhound. Bloodhounds have the most highly sense of smell, a thousand times stronger
than a humans. Bloodhounds pick up individual persons scent by following the skin cells
they have shed separating the scents from everyone else.
General Health Issues not Limited to one
Bloodhounds are considered a large breed Dog and like with any large breed Dog Bloat or gastric torsion could be a problem, without immediate vet care from a Experenced Vet, this could lead to a painful death. It is unsure that this is inherited, studies have shown that it is most likely to happen to a deep chested dog. Hip Dysplasia is another problem that can show up in any breed large or small, it is more noticeable to the human eye in the larger breeds because they carry more weight, the dog usually has a limp or hops when he runs. Causes of this disease are both genetic and/or environmental factors such as rapid growth and weight gain, and the surface the Dog lives on can lead to hip/joint problems. Skin and Eye issues are part of the Bloodhound Breed and it is up to the New Owners to care for their Bloodhounds needs.
Bloodhounds Disposition
Bloodhounds are usually very affectionate Dogs if raised correctly, they love kids and seem to become extra gentle with the elders. It is Very Important to socialize a Bloodhound puppy (any Breed puppy)in the environment you plan for him to live. Raising a Bloodhound puppy is alot like raising a Child and if they are not tought manners your life could be a disaster. Bloodhounds get their feelings hurt very easy, they are a very sensitive breed but are also a very smart trainable breed.
Working Ability
Bloodhounds are very athletic, they love the water and make great swimmers being that they have the web feet. They also make great retrievers, Remember any dog that can retrieve can track!

As a Bloodhound breeder since 1992, I have learned a lot. I/We love this breed and strive to breed the best quality Bloodhound as possible. Correct Conformation, Strong Tracking Drive and Great Working ability. Dual purpose. I have Bred many AKC Conformation Champions and placed many Bloodhounds in major Police Departments all over the USA including two Bloodhounds and one Labrador Retriever in Hawaii.
Our kennel goals are to be selective in our Bloodhound breeding program. Every Breeding we do is with intentions to keep a puppy to carry on our Breeding Program. We try to breed to complement the offspring and produce the best Bloodhound we can and with help from close Breeder friends Dave, Michelle and Colleen Mahan "Coshelav Bloodhounds" (they are The Best)!
Not all puppies are Breeding/Show Quality and we do
place puppies with Limited AKC registrations in Pet/Working Homes. We also
place select puppies with Full AKC registrations in Show Homes and occasional
Breeding Homes. We are Not Crazy about placing our Bloodhounds with
Breeders without a goal. But, I would like to say to the public that
Jill (me), Daren and Brandon are "Very Friendly" and strive to help with
questions the best way we can so please do not be shy to call with general
question on this breed.
Each and every one of my dogs are individually identified with Avid Microchips.
Our adult dogs are Pets first, Show/Breeders second. My dogs are my family, being that I
do not have kids, my dogs are my children. Here at Hound Ears Kennels my furry four legged
family members are treated with respect and are given' lots of care and plenty of love.
We are a family that consist of Animals. Hound Ears Kennels is a
Kennel that keeps all Dogs until God says its time to come live with him. All of
our Dogs are not Breeders. Every Dog that leaves Hound Ears Kennels is
welcomed back unconditional.
Our Kennel is professional with a Covered Top and Concrete Floor. We shovel daily, Bleach and Spray Floors and fresh water is provided. We feed only Top Quality Foods and the Best in Health Care. It is very costly housing animals the correct way. We are also in substantial compliance with AKC Rules, Care and Condition Policy.
Hound Ears Bloodhounds has placed many Bloodhounds in Police Departments
located in Large Cities all over the USA and Hawaii, including Search and Rescue
teams that give frequent updates on successful findings...... Also I Show
AKC Conformation and have placed
Bloodhounds that have went on to become successful conformation show dogs as well as great
pets!

HOUND EARS KENNELS Breeder: Jill Baker, you can be confident that you are getting a high quality Bloodhound puppy that has had a lot of human contact from me (Jill Baker), Daren and Brandon. Most of my Bloodhounds whelp their puppies in my den with me by her side. I spend all night and day setting with the new mama and her babies for the first week of life with maybe a short nap every so often. When I visit my Mother on the Coast (Caswell Beach, NC) I take the Mama Dog and Puppies with me, this is our other home! By the way, Bloodhounds do enjoy the Beach and Boating! They also get A LOT of attention on the Beach...... My family will say it is unusual to see Jill without a Dog. I must have a Dog for company (Brandon and Daren can stay home)!!!
Hound Ears Kennels would like to introduce Daren and Brandon that are also part of Hound Ears Kennels and are very knowledgeable about Bloodhounds and other types of animals and can answer most any question someone may have about our Dogs if I am not available. A little History on me and why I do what I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hound Ears Kennels is a Kennel that Loves all animals. My Daddy and Mother gave me this 55 acre Farm so I could have the animals that I enjoy such as Dogs, Bengal House Cats, two Chincillas, Guinea Pigs, Yard Birds (Turkeys, Chickens, Guineas, Peacocks, Ducks), 11 Horses, one Sheep, three Goats. I am thinking about getting Cows too! As a very small baby all I wanted was to hold and cuddle some type of animal (not Stuffed) I was most interested in Horses and Dogs and all threw school if it involved a animal I was all ears. I spent hours after school training my Pets. I also raised Rabbits and Hamsters. I even had two Iguanas and a Pet Snake. Over the many years I have learned a lot about the different type of animals health care needs most by Hands on experience. I have learned a lot from a experienced in Bloodhounds Vet over the past 20 years. I also have a cousin that is currently in her 4th year studying Animal Science in hopes to go to Veterinary school, she also helps me with my animals. Jill's Farm that is also called LLB Farms in Loving Memory of my Daddy that is still a very respected man.
My Motto here is: "Keep Working and Don't Stop"!

Shipping is available world wide with most major airlines
with the best routing for the puppy.
If you choose to have your puppy shipped, I will call and

Domestic Airfare price can be checked at the time of shipping..... average cost in the USA as of April 2008, $250. for a 200 size kennel and Airline used...
***We also Ship International*** ( most all Countries), rates vary by destination................. Airfare, Health Certificate requirements depends on destination. I am sorry I only speak English but Daren can speak some Spanish. Email is sometimes the best way to communicate/transmit information.
3) Shipping Crate and Health Certificate (required by all Airlines) will also be needed
for shipping Domestic (USA) and International.

If we can not help you at that time we may be able to help you with a planned up-coming litter or refer you to a reputable Breeder Friend. Depending on what you are looking for in a Bloodhound, as the Bloodhound breeder, I will do my best to help you pick out the right puppy to fit your needs from a pet, working, breeding or show quality puppy. It is not uncommon to start taking deposits on puppies that are not even born. We place our puppies two ways. AKC Limited and AKC full registered. This is not something I made up, this type of registration is threw The American Kennel Club. "Limited" means that offspring are not eligible for registration. Entry in Dog Events is restricted. "Full" means offspring are eligible for registration. Entry in Dog Events is unrestricted by registration. A limited registered puppy is a puppy that is not for breeding or confirmation shows. This Bloodhound puppy may have a fault or may have no fault at all. If you want a show quality puppy for a limited price that can sometimes be arranged. A Full registered puppy is a puppy that has almost no noticeable faulty qualities when released from Hound Ears Kennels and could be used for breeding and for show with a good feeling from me.

Hound Ears Bloodhounds puppies are placed with a fair price (call or email for prices of our puppies). We do not compete with Back Yard Breeders or Puppy Mills. The Quality is like comparing Wal-Mart to Boutiques on Rodeo Drive! All puppies are cute but the final outcome tells it all.

Hound Ears Kennels strives in caring for our Dogs/Puppies. We do not release a puppy knowingly having a health problem. We offer a 72 hour Written Health Guarantee on puppies that are picked up from Hound Ears Kennels. New owner must take the puppy to a Vet for complete physical check-up. If any life-threatening abnormality is found- excluding parasites- buyer agrees to return puppy to Hound Ears Kennels in exchange for another puppy of equal value (No Refunds) if no puppy is available buyer agrees to wait on a future puppy. Buyer understands no other guarantees, oral or written including size or color applies.
All puppies that require Shipping will receive a Health Certificate by a licensed Vet before shipping. This guarantees a Healthy Puppy. All puppies are insured by the Airlines.

Here at Hound Ears Kennels, we hope that your dog will make you very happy
and will be welcomed in your home. However, if at any time in the future
you find that you are unable to keep the dog, please let me know and I will
be glad to find the dog a loving foster home for you. I do
Bloodhound Rescue. I Never want to see a Bloodhound I bred in Rescue or a
Shelter, please contact me first....... If the Bloodhound did not come from
Hound Ears Bloodhounds or Coshelav Bloodhounds, I do require that the Dog
be delivered to me with all Health Records/ Documents.
It is very important to revaccinate your puppy for prevention of virus every 2-3 weeks until 18 weeks of age depending on the vaccine maker. *Booster Shots yearly thereafter.... At 12 weeks of age he/she should receive its first Rabies vaccination. Deworming a Puppy/Adult Dog is a MUST at least once a month for internal parasites year around. Heart Guard (Ivermectin) every month for prevention of Bloodworms, Mites/lice, Fleas and Ticks. Recommend for Bloodhounds, Labrador Retrievers and Parson/Jack Russell Terriers (my three Breeds)...... It is also important to feed your puppy a "High Quality" puppy food. A Happy Puppy is a Healthy Puppy!!!!!!! Find a trusting/caring Vet that knows your breed .....
All Puppies/Dogs that leave Hound Ears Kennels are "up to date" on Shots and Dewormings New Owners will need to carry out the the responsibility.
As a Bloodhound breeder, I offer good advice. All Dogs require a good amount of attention. Please be sure that you and if you
have a family that they are ready to take on the responsibilities of owning a Dog.
Bloodhounds do not require alot of grooming but they do tend to drool alot, and usually
like to hug and kiss. So if you are a really neat person that does not like to get dirty,
you do not need a Bloodhound. You need a Poodle!
